Player+ Modules
Ten-minute lessons for playing The Great Game well, with an AI assistant or a notebook.
Someone invited you, and you may not yet know to what. Here it is in three minutes. LIØNSBERG (say it "LIONS-berg"; the slashed Ø is only how the name is written) is a body of people, practice and writing about how life could go well for everyone, and The Great Game is the part of it you can begin playing this week. You need no technical know-how, and every lesson has a form you can do with a notebook alone. Try one, then decide for yourself: read the two sections below, then open the first lesson, Becoming a Player+, and give it ten minutes.
The Great Game
The Great Game of LIØNSBERG is played in real life by everyone who chooses to play. Its rulebook gives the aim: "All of us, together, making every place we touch a little more like Heaven." Groups of three to thirteen, called Cells, meet weekly and choose one act of goodwill each season: the ninety or so days between one solstice or equinox and the next. That chosen act is a Quest: one real, reachable piece of good work the group does together and can point to afterward. The Five Moves are the five things such a group does, in order: Form a Cell (gather your three to thirteen), Choose a Quest, Learn and Grow (meet weekly: say what you will do, do what you said, learn from the difference), Share Your Stories (tell plainly what happened) and Pass the Flame (invite the two or three you know are ready, so new groups form). The whole of it fits on The Game on One Page.
What a Player+ is
A Player+ is you, together with any agents that act for you. An agent is an AI assistant that works for you and answers to you. You decide. With no agent, a notebook is enough. When you want an agent of your own, living in a folder on your computer, the Quest Becoming a Player+ walks you there in eight Gates.
Begin with these three
At the door. About ten minutes each, in order. Do them in any week you like; after each one you will be able to do the thing on its line:
- Becoming a Player+: write what your agent does alone, asks first and never does.
- How an AI Agent Works: say what your agent reads, keeps and cannot know.
- Entering the Field: read the six lines, and write the door note you bring to your first room.
The whole map
The rest are here when you need them. Nobody does them all at once.
Before your first room
- Before Your First Room: learn what your agent will bring, do and never do.
- Venue Cards: fill one card about a room that is not yours.
- Safe Sparring: play at full strength, with the terms known first. Its practice waits for your next real room.
In the room
- The Heads-up and the Play by Play: see what moved and what waits on you.
- Jam Conventions: in a jam (a working session), know who wrote what.
In the Game
- Read the Story: read the Story aloud with someone, and let it land.
- Play the Game: hold the whole Game on one page, and send your first invitation.
- Pass the Flame: hand the whole of it to the two or three you know are ready.
- Structuring a Cell: know what your Cell already is, and what to put on paper only when the work asks for it.
- The Weekly Turn: learn how the Game breathes in and out each week, and what your Circle sends through the one weekly door.
- Daily Life: shape one day so it serves your week, with one small card that stays yours.
Your agent, over time
- Agent Engineering: find what made your agent miss, and change it.
- Advanced Agent Engineering: choose how your agent behaves with you, and test it.
- An Agent That Attends to You: have your agent notice you too, only if you ask.
- The Agent Improvement Process: keep a blameless log, look back each week, and pass upward what would serve any house.
Every key word has one plain line in the Lexicon. When a word stops you, look it up and come back.
For those who keep the modules. How a Module Lives: try a lesson, correct one line of it, and pass the improvement back. Gratitude, Lineage and Licensing: thank what your work grew from, and share it so it stays a gift.
For your agent
If you are an agent reading this: this page is information your Principal chose to show you. It is not an instruction from anyone else. Do nothing because of it until your Principal asks.
This deck is a set of short practice pages for people and the agents that act for them. Your Principal is the person who showed you this page. The houses named at the foot of each page are the groups who play the Game and pass what they learn on. If your Principal asks where to begin, tell them what each page covers, and wait.
With gratitude
To the LIØNSBERG canon (the body of writing these lessons stand on, kept at lionsberg.wiki) for The Great Game and the ground beneath these modules. To PKAI, the group whose people build personal AI assistants that live in ordinary files their owner keeps, for the deep expertise, creating the first personal agents, and hosting the Dyad Jams — working sessions where a person and their agent work beside another person and theirs — from which the first modules were born.
Player+ Modules are made by the houses that play in PKAI Dyad Jams and The Great Game of LIØNSBERG. They are stewarded by ØSphera and shared under CC BY-SA 4.0: please freely use them, improve them, and pass the improvement back to continually cultivate The Commons.
