Discovery

The act of uncovering what already is, and carrying it back into Consciousness and civilization.

Discovery is finding, not inventing. What is found was there before the finder, which sets the posture: humility rather than ownership, and gratitude rather than claim. The same posture governs a Pattern — patterns are discovered, not authored — and the same conclusion follows: the finding may be honored, the finder may be named, but neither may be enclosed.

This is why truth to ØNE, errors to us is the attribution rule of the whole field. What is true was not produced by the one who saw it; what is wrong belongs to whoever said it and is theirs to correct. A discovery that arrives with a fence around it has already been bent, because the fence, not the finding, becomes the thing being defended.

For a Cell, discovery is ordinary and weekly. Someone notices a thing that works, or a thing that always breaks at the same place. The move is to name it, write it down in a form another Cell could use, and pass it up: solve once, document, push it up, curate, pull it down, localize, feed back. That circulation is what makes a thousand tables into one body of knowledge rather than a thousand private lessons relearned forever.

Discovery has a shadow the field names directly: knowledge that was found and then hidden, monopolized, or forbidden. The canon holds that suppressed knowledge which could serve the good of all must be revealed and responsibly released — and, in the same breath, that some findings are genuinely dangerous and require more than one kind of key to open. Both halves are held; neither is resolved into a rule here.
