Species

Federation by kind — one of the axes that cross the ladder rather than climbing it.

Not every belonging is a rung. Four fellowships weave sideways through every scale at once: Guilds, federating by craft; Tribes, by lineage; Voluntary Associations, by chosen affinity; and Species, by biological and ontological kind. A sovereign at any scale typically belongs to several Guilds, Tribes, and Associations — and always to at least one Species (Levels Of Scale).

Naming Species as an axis does a particular piece of work: it makes the human one membership among many rather than the frame itself. Humans, and also dolphins, redwoods, ravens, and whatever wider community of conscious kinds the cosmos holds. Once that is on the board, a seat for living systems at a body's table stops being symbolic and becomes structural (Kinship, Living Systems Member, Inter-Kingdom Relationship, Ecology).

It is ore, and honestly so. The axis is named, its place in the architecture is named, and how a species is actually represented at a table — who speaks, by what discernment, with what accountability — is unwritten. That gap is where the work is, and a body that takes it seriously will discover the practice before the page exists (Gaps Not Yet Closed, Reverence).
