The Lineage Does Not Fail Because Not All Fail

Any single person could fail. The lineage does not fail, because not all of them do.

It is a redundancy argument, stated in one line, and it does two things at once.

It removes an impossible weight. A person carrying the belief that the whole thing depends on them will either break under it or begin protecting the thing instead of doing it. The canon's structure answers that directly: you contribute; you do not have to hold the whole (There Is No Solo Phase, The Two-Stake Principle, Cell).

And it refuses the opposite comfort. Not all fail is not none fails. Individual failure is expected — the chain is built to survive it, not to prevent it. That is why the canon pairs the line with a body in which drift is caught early and standing is witnessed rather than assumed (Lapse Is Honored, Pretence Is Tragic, Recognitions Are Not Titles To Be Sought).

Structurally this is the same claim as the one under the whole canon's design: no centre whose loss is fatal, the code carried complete in every part, so that what is lost anywhere can be regrown from anywhere (Cell, Self-Sustenance and Self-Replication, Structural Immunity, Holofractal Scaling). Applied to people across time rather than to bodies across space, it says: faithful walking always re-emerges somewhere, and the chain continues.

It also reframes a death. Someone who walked faithfully to the end is not primarily a loss; they are the proof that the way works — those who come after see what is possible by looking at the one who walked through. That is the most human use of a lineage: not authority, but evidence that the path has an end and that someone reached it (Testimony, Pass The Flame, Dying, The Elder Transition And The Final Transmission).
