Generational Time

The scales longer than a life — generation, precession, galaxy, age — named as the horizons the work is actually measured against, and written almost nowhere.

A generation is the longest unit a person can feel: the span between being formed and forming someone. Beyond it the scales run out past any individual's experience — the precession of the equinoxes, the turning of a galaxy, the ages of a cosmos. These are the horizons at which the Goal is actually stated: Heaven on Earth, for All, forever. A plan measured in decades is a tactic inside them.

It is load-bearing because it is what accountability across time requires. The seventh-generation principle binds a body forward to those not yet born and backward to the ancestors, and a seat at the table is held in trust for future generations, charged with one question: would the people of seven generations from now thank us, or curse us, for this? That question cannot be asked seriously by a body that thinks only in quarters. The inheritance of time is the other side of it — what was handed to us by people we will never meet, and what we are handing on.

In the Game, generational time shows up in the smallest of places: the twenty-year contingency that exists so the crossing completes within a single generation; the three years of formation asked of each person who comes; the line in the Vision about the Story carried on to the rising generations and outward to other worlds. In the System, it is the scale at which stewardship differs from ownership — a steward who holds land, a commons, or a body on behalf of people not yet born cannot sell what they are holding, which is what the asset lock and the purpose lock make structural.

These are honestly ore. Generational time, precessional time, galactic time, cosmic time, and the inheritance of time are listed together as parts of a calendar not yet written, and none of them has a body.
