Crafting
The hands layer of the Way: building, slow making, repairing, restoring. What is learned by making a thing well cannot be learned another way.
The Way is not only inner and not only organizational. A Sovereign has hands, and the disciplines of the hands are their own — taking material as it is, working at the speed the material requires, and being corrected by it. Wood does not care about intention. This is why craft forms a person in a direction that reading and meeting cannot: it produces a being who has been argued with by reality, repeatedly, and has adjusted.
Four moves are named together and they are not the same. Building makes what was not there. Slow making refuses the speed at which quality quietly leaves. Repairing restores function to what is broken, which is the move a culture of replacement has mostly forgotten. Restoring returns a thing toward what it was meant to be, which requires knowing what that was.
Repair carries weight beyond the workshop. A Body that repairs its tools, its buildings, and its relationships is running the same Pattern in three registers, and the waterfall names repair explicitly as a claim on value before surplus. Craft is also where The Embodied Form Teaches is most literal: the master demonstrates, the apprentice does the work alongside for years, and explanation supplements without ever substituting.
Its lineage in the Way is the guild — federation by function, crossing places and generations, holding standards of craft and passing them on (Guild · Apprenticeship · Belt Progression).
The canon names this layer as a short list under Hands, with no Card behind any of it. Of the whole inner way, the hands are the least written part.
