Overwhelm
Load past capacity — the instrument flooding. And, on first contact with something vast, a sacred signal rather than a flaw.
The felt sense. Static. Thought scattering into fragments, the chest crowded, small tasks looming like walls; sometimes a strange stillness as the system throws its own breaker. Everything is urgent, so nothing can begin.
What it reports is arithmetic, not weakness: demand has crossed what one embodied being can process. Its crucial testimony is about the shape of the work and not the worth of the worker — the current design is asking of one body what only a different design, or a Cell, can carry (Load, Span of Control, Resource Leveling).
Its gradient runs effort → stress → overwhelm → shutdown; beyond it lie being stuck and, if it becomes a residence, resignation. Its gift is the honest reading that the present shape is unlivable, arriving before collapse rather than after. Heard early, it is mercy. Its distortion is frantic doing — motion mistaken for progress while the flood rises — or, enthroned, an identity: the perpetually swamped one, whose drowning excuses every unkept word (Pain (as signal), Waste, Drift).
The move is three steps and no more. Stop adding — the first act is a closed gate. Shrink the next step to what one body can do now: one page, one call, one breath. Then let the Cell carry its share; asking is not failing (Stop, Mutual Aid, Just in time).
There is a second sense, and it belongs beside the first rather than under it. On first meeting something Real and Whole, overwhelm is not a malfunction — it is the natural, even sacred signal that you have touched a living pattern larger than the frame you brought. Nobody is expected to master it now. Start where you are; follow the breath; choose what calls to you. You cannot get it wrong, because this is a living journey and not a dead curriculum — and the further in you go, the simpler it gets (Sensing comes before understanding, The Zone Of Optimum Development, Awe, Shoshin).

Open: Two senses share the page and the canon has not joined them: a design signal about load, and a sacred signal on first contact with something whole. They are not the same experience and both are carried here.
