The Translation Journey

The long road a teaching travels from Source to the page in your hand — and back out into a living Spirit. Every step is a place where something can be added, lost, or bent.

The steps, as the canon's own audit names them: from ØNE → to the inspiration received by a person → to the Logos, the ordering principle the inspiration carries → to localization, the rendering of it in one people's language, images, and concerns → to the oral transmission that carries it before anything is written → to the canon, the decision about which texts are kept → to translation into other tongues → to the recovery of intent behind the words → to the inherited text as a reader actually receives it, freighted with everything done to it on the way → and finally back out into the living Spirit, where the teaching becomes something enacted rather than read.

The journey is not a complaint about corruption. It is a map of the ordinary conditions under which anything sacred reaches anyone, and holding it changes how a text is read. A reader who has walked the ten steps stops asking what does this say and starts asking which layer am I looking at — the inspiration, the localisation, the committee, the translator's choice, or my own century's assumption about what the word means. That is what makes the discipline of many lamps necessary rather than decorative (Progressive Illumination, Empirical Resonance).

Two guards travel with it. Each step is a word tool, not the thing — the map is not the terrain, and treating a late step as the origin is the exact shape of idolatry (Idolatry (of the word and of the doctrine)). And the journey does not end at the text. The last step is the point of the whole road: a teaching that arrives as information and stops there has not completed its passage; it completes in a life that enacts it (Living Word, Embodying the Way).

The same map applies to this body's own writing. Everything here is a late step in someone's journey, and will be a middle step in someone else's (Truth To ØNE, Errors To Us).
