The total manifest order — all that has taken form, at every scale, held as one.

The Universe is what the sciences survey and more than they have illuminated: the observable portion is the lit porch of a house whose extent remains dark. Metaphysically the canon declines the picture of a container of dead objects and reads the Universe as one Living System — the body of manifestation, emanating from, existing in, and returning to ØNE, every part interexistent with every other.

Three claims in the canon's articulation do real work. First, the Creator's Intent for the Universe is the ultimate context of every smaller intent: no local aim escapes it, which is why The Goal is received rather than chosen. Second, the Universe's authority transcends every temporal authority — a claim that limits every human Authority from above and gives Sovereignty somewhere to stand. Third, its daily gift — the income of Energy from sun and cosmos that powers all life — is named as the original commons, the endowment every economy actually runs on. That last one is not poetry; it is the ontological root under Commons and under the argument that extraction is theft from a gift.

The fourth claim is epistemic: because no mind holds the Universe whole, we inhabit it through renderings. Every cosmology, every physics, every sacred story, and the LIØNSBERG telling itself is a Current Best Articulation of one Universe that exceeds them all.

In play the Universe is rarely operative at the table; it is the outermost frame that keeps the table honest. A Cell meets it when it notices that its Quest sits inside something it did not design and cannot own.
