Wayfaring
The gerund form of the Path: not the road and not the destination, but the walking itself.
The Way names the archetypal path. The Sovereign Path names its shape across a lifetime. Wayfaring names the activity — the daily, ordinary, unfinished motion of a person actually going. The corpus makes this move often and on purpose: it prefers verbs to nouns wherever a noun would let something be possessed rather than practised. A Way that is held becomes a position; a Way that is walked stays a Way.
The distinction is load-bearing for a reason stated at the front of the corpus: to know the Way, one must live it. No amount of reading produces a wayfarer, and the archetypal path cannot be transmitted as information. What can be transmitted is a first step, a companion, and a rhythm — which is why the Game hands over a weekly Turn rather than a philosophy, and why Learning By Doing and Praxis are named disciplines rather than recommendations.
It also carries a posture. A wayfarer travels light, does not confuse the map with the territory, and expects the road to teach. Current Best Understanding is the epistemic form of that, Shoshin the interior one, and The Walk is permissive the pastoral one — the pace is the walker's, and returning to a stretch is still walking it.
Ore, and slight: the name appears in the Pattern Language's root section and in the wider pattern inventory with no body under it. What is here is what the word and its placement support — that the corpus intends the walking, not the route, to be the unit. A Cell that wants more should watch what its own members actually do between the Turns and write that down.
