Archetype
The Ideal articulated into definite, buildable form — pattern, structure, and interfaces, still free of any particular site or constraint.
The Archetype is the third rung of The Creative Cascade and the point at which an aspiration becomes a design. More defined than the Ideal, less committed than the Prototype: Essence given shape. It is what you can hand to someone in another place and have them build from, because nothing in it yet assumes your ground, your budget, or your people.
That is exactly its load. A movement that shares only ideals spreads sentiment; a movement that shares only finished instances spreads a form that fits nowhere else. The Archetype is the transmissible middle — which is why the canon calls the LIØNSBERG System one articulation, offered among others at the Archetype rung, and why LIØNSBERG Is A Prototype, Not The Eternal Essence is stated as a discipline rather than a modesty.
In the Pattern Language the word does a second job: an Archetype is a role a person can take up — the Sacred Warrior is named as the first, with parallel pattern-sets expected to emerge for the others as their guidebooks develop. The two senses share a logic: a buildable form, general enough to be inhabited by many, specific enough to be actually run. Pattern is an archetypal logic made repeatable; Mythos is an archetypal vessel made tellable.
Its guard is the Cascade's own: every articulated form is a made thing, and the moment it is worshipped it becomes an idol, the moment it is declared final it becomes a cage. Institutional Idolatry names the failure at the scale of a body.
