Institutional Idolatry
The sixth disease: the institution becomes the end. The vessel built to carry the purpose is preserved at the purpose's expense.
An institution is a vessel — a legal form, a council, a school, a wiki, a movement's name. It exists so that the work outlasts the people doing it. Idolatry is the inversion: the institution's survival becomes the operative goal, and decisions that once served the purpose begin to serve continuity instead. The diagnostic question is precise: would this Body dissolve itself if dissolving served the purpose better? A Body that cannot answer yes has already made the exchange.
The signs come in order. First, defending reputation against legitimate critique. Then, treating loyalty to the institution as a virtue above Right Relationship. Then, operationalizing survival — funding, headcount, brand, roll — as the measure of health. By the time an institution is spoken of as a thing to be protected rather than a tool to be used, the exchange is complete.
The refusals are explicit. The Pattern Governs, Not People: no founder, and no structure, is elevated beyond the Pattern it carries. LIØNSBERG Is A Prototype, Not The Eternal Essence: what is being built is one instance of something older, and the instance is not the thing. Disbanding is named as a discipline — discrete birth and discrete death, the just dissolution of what is corrupted or finished — which is only possible in a Body that never made dissolution unthinkable.
