Being

That which exists or participates in existence — the pure essence of existence: I-Amness, presence, the eternal now.

Being is the first pole of a triad the canon uses constantly: Being, Doing, Becoming. Being is existence itself, prior to activity — awareness, presence, the universal and eternal Now. Doing is engagement in activity or work in space and time. Becoming is the movement between them, the process of evolving toward fullness of Being. The three are not competitors; they are the faces of one life.

The distinction is load-bearing because the old world collapses it. A civilization that recognises only Doing measures a person by output and calls rest a cost; it produces the exhaustion the canon names as the ordinary condition it means to end. Sabbath, Rest And Regeneration, Silence And Stillness As The Ground, and the opening silence of The Turn are all structural protections of Being inside a system otherwise organised around work. So is the line that no card is more important than the person at the table.

Being is also where Ontology takes its name and its object: the study of Being across its levels, qualities, structures, and purposes. And it is what Sovereignty Of Consciousness protects — dignity attaches to a being because it is, not because of what it produces, which is the precise claim that makes a seat at the table unconditional.

The canon's practical teaching pairs the two poles rather than ranking them: The Reciprocal Opening of Being and Doing names the spiralling-up that occurs in the interplay between them, and treats their apparent polarity as generative rather than a choice to be settled.
