Position

Where an Actor stands: place in the world · which body it stands inside · how near it is to the live work.

To have a position is to stand somewhere — in the world, among people, in the work. Every Cell broadcasts its position, its condition, its offers and its requests to the whole; this is what the first of those words points at, in three facets, because position alone carries too much to be one field.

Place — where in the world an Actor plays, stated as coarsely as it likes and by its own consent: a town, a region, a hemisphere. Body — which Cell or gathering it stands inside, found by its address in the nested holarchy of sovereign bodies. Hand — how near it is to live work, in the old delivery sense of closest to the work, with the standing to decide.

Together the three let a request ask one clear question: given where you stand, in what body, holding what — are you the right hand for this? That is a very different question from who is available, and it is the one that actually routes work well (Requests and offers, Subsidiarity).

It is load-bearing because place is how a body without a centre finds the nearest capable hand. A request that must travel to the middle and back is slow and creates a middle; a request that knows position can go sideways, directly, to whoever stands nearest the need (An address, Holarchy, Federation).

Place is stated by consent and never inferred. A person may say this continent and owe nobody more, and an Actor's whereabouts is never a field the body fills in on their behalf (Sovereignty, Consent, Disclosure tier).

One thing this word must not swallow. The canon uses Position in a far larger and more sacred sense — humanity's rightful standing and role within the cosmic order, a birthright rather than a whereabouts. The small fields here are deliberately kept beneath it (Sovereignty In The Populated Field, Identity).
