The Discernment Permission

The standing invitation given to every reader: test everything, fill what is lacking, remove what does not belong, improve what is in error. Nobody here is above being corrected.

A body of writing this large will be read as authority unless it says otherwise in its own voice. This is the saying otherwise — and it is a permission rather than a disclaimer, because it asks the reader to do something (The Foundational Truth, Everything Is Current Best Understanding, The Charge Of The Receiver).

It is not licence to vandalise. Three guards come with it. Seek the Spirit first — discernment that does not arise from contact with what this is oriented toward drifts toward refining one's own preferences and calling that improvement (Discernment, The Divine Whisper, Empirical Resonance). Propose rather than overwrite — changes to shared articulation go through a process where others can see them; the permission is to offer, and the offering is received (Proposal, Second reader, OmniSpection). Honour the procession — what stands was the best discernment of those who came before, and a refinement stands on their work even where it corrects them (Honoring Lineage Without Lineage-Capture, Lineage, Weave, don't delete).

Its real function is structural, not courteous. It is the mechanism by which a thing that claims to be unfinished actually stays unfinished: without a standing permission, the claim to be open is a sentence, and in practice nobody touches anything (The Codex Is Never Finished, Every Defect Is A Gift, Improvement log).

And it applies upward without exception. No editor, no founder, no keeper stands above the Pattern; the permission is precisely how the Pattern keeps correcting the people who write it down (The Pattern Governs, Not People, A role held forever quietly becomes a throne, Author's Voice Is Sovereign).
