Exorcism
The removal of what is parasitic, inverted, or destructive from a being, a place, or a system.
Exorcism names a move the canon holds across several registers at once: clearing a person, clearing a place, clearing a lineage, clearing a body of people of something that feeds on it. The common structure is the same in each — something is present that does not belong, it is taking without giving, it is recognized, named, and put out.
The structural register is the plainest and needs no metaphysics to use. The Parasite is named as one of the anti-patterns: what feeds on the commons without contributing. A body that cannot remove such a presence eventually ceases to have a commons. Removal here is not violence; it is the withdrawal of what the parasitism was living on, and then the restoration of what it drained.
The personal register is the inner one: patterns absorbed from the Old World that continue running in a person long after they have decided against them, and the Trauma the canon names as the master key of domination. These are cleared slowly, usually in company, and the clearing is Healing rather than combat.
Two cautions, and they are large. The word has been the instrument of terrible harm wherever a community decided that a person was a presence rather than a person, and the field's own defences apply: nobody is judged in their absence, nobody is confronted without being heard, and what is put out is the pattern, not the human being — who is confronted, heard, and guided toward restoration, or contained until trust can be rebuilt. And the register in which spirits are literally addressed is drafted, contested, and not required for any of the above.
