Containment Of The Dangerous Sovereign
What a body does with someone it cannot allow to continue and will not destroy.
Every arrangement built on Sovereignty eventually meets the case it is least equipped for: a person whose sovereignty is real, who will not stop, and whose continuing means harm to others. The Old World answers with cages and erasure. A body that refuses those needs an answer of its own, or it will improvise one under pressure — and improvised answers in that moment are how communities become the thing they were protecting against.
The canon names the family and has written none of it: containment, banishment and exile, restitution, truth and reconciliation, mediation. What can be said with confidence is the frame the rest of the field imposes. The aim is restoration, not punishment — the wrongdoer is confronted, heard, and guided toward repair, or held apart until trust can be re-established, which is a condition rather than a sentence. The force used is the minimum that stops the harm. The judging is local, near, and visible rather than distant and procedural. And the person remains a person: what is put out is the conduct and the access, not the human being.
Two protections cut both ways. Nobody is judged in their absence or without being heard — the protection that keeps containment from becoming a tool of whoever currently holds the room. And the harmed are not asked to absorb the harm for the sake of the body's self-image, which is the failure mode of communities that prize their own peaceability above the safety of their members; when a member is in danger the Circle acts first and records later.
This is the hardest unwritten thing in the Pillar, and it should be written by people who have actually had to do it.
