Trauma
The imprint of unresolved harm on body, mind, or soul, which obstructs flow long after the event that caused it has ended.
Trauma is not the event. It is what the event left behind when it could not be metabolized: a pattern held in the tissue and the nervous system that keeps organizing a life around a danger that is no longer in the room. It obstructs Vitality and it distorts perception, and because it operates below deliberation it cannot be argued away by a person who knows better.
It is load-bearing in two directions. Inward, it names the most common obstruction that Healing must meet; Integration is the work of bringing what was split off back into a coherent whole. Outward, the canon makes a harder claim: unresolved trauma is a master key of domination. A frightened people is governable, and systems of control do not merely exploit wounds already present — they manufacture and maintain them, because a population that flinches on cue does not need chains. That claim is carried as current best understanding and stated in the canon's reading of the old order, not as a proven mechanism.
In play, trauma is why a Cell operates as a Zero Blame Environment: cause is sought in the set-up rather than in the person, because a reaction out of proportion to its trigger is almost always old. It is why the floor of care exists — when a member is in danger in body or in mind, the Circle acts first and records later. It is why Mend a Tension is a distinct move rather than an argument, and why Forgiveness is treated as a practice with its own wisdom rather than as an instruction.
What this page does not hold: method. The canon names the healing of trauma among the operational gaps not yet patterned, and this is one of the places where a reader must go to practitioners and traditions outside the corpus. Naming the gap is honest; filling it with confident technique would not be.
