Jubilee

Periodic reset and restoration of justice — debts forgiven, the captive freed, what was lost returned, the count begun again.

Any system in which claims compound will, given enough time, produce a distribution nobody would have chosen and nobody can undo by ordinary means. Debts outlive the reason for them. Land accumulates in fewer hands. The descendants of a bad season stay poor for generations. Jubilee is the answer the old traditions worked out for this: not a remedy applied when things get bad, but a release built into the calendar, arriving whether or not anyone thinks it is needed.

That it is periodic is the whole design. A release granted case by case is charity, and it depends on the goodwill of whoever holds the claim. A release that arrives on a known date changes behaviour in advance: nobody lends what cannot be recovered before it, nobody builds a life plan on perpetual extraction, and the debtor is never without a horizon. The reset is structural immunity against Usury by the only means that reliably works — removing the compounding rather than moderating it.

Jubilee is larger than debt. The canon's sense carries forgiveness, liberation, restoration, and redistribution together: obligations cancelled, the bound released, the exiled returned, what was enclosed put back into Commons. It reaches memory as well as ledgers — the reconciliation of kin, the healing of what was done, the closing of old accounts between people and not only between balance sheets. The Story places the Greatest Celebration and Jubilee as a movement of the arc, the state-of-system event after the last cohort crosses: the longest war won, all debts forgiven, all kin reconciled.

A Cell need not wait for a planetary one. The small form of it is real: close each season honestly, forgive what was not kept, release what is stuck, and begin the next Quest without carrying the last one's grievance. Celebrate, Learn, and Improve is the weekly-to-seasonal shape of the same move.
