The Promised Land
Where the Story is going — not a place we arrive at but a way of living we co-create, here and now, a little more each week.
The name is borrowed from the oldest crossing story there is, and it is deliberately corrected in the borrowing. There is no territory waiting, already finished, for a people to occupy. The land has to be reimagined, redesigned, and rebuilt in order to be entered, and the entering is the building. This is the same claim Heaven On Earth makes and the same one Co-Creating Heaven makes: not a destination that arrives, but a relationship that is chosen and kept on being chosen.
The correction is load-bearing. A promised land held as a destination produces waiting, and waiting produces either passivity or the violence of people trying to force an arrival. Held as a way of living, it produces this week's work: one real thing, in one place, that makes life measurably more like Heaven — and then the next. It also disarms the false arrivals named among the failure modes of The Wilderness: no Circle can announce that it has got there, because there is no there to have got to.
What it is not is vague. The corpus states the content plainly: air, water, and soil pure; children safe and nourished; no one hungry, no one alone, nothing wasted, everything alive; every person free, connected, and empowered; every community self-governing, self-sustaining, and able to plant the next; the old debts forgiven, the land breathing, the People home; and the Story carried on, to the rising generations and outward to other worlds. That is specific enough to be tested against, which is the point of a vision.
In the Game each Cell renders it locally: every member is asked how they would like the world to be, and from the answers the Circle crafts a shared picture of what Heaven looks like, feels like, tastes like right where they are. In the System it is the constraint on all design — Design To The Goal — and the reason the new civilisation is built in twelve spheres at once rather than one at a time.
