Remedy
The means of correcting injustice, restoring order, and healing harm within a just system — what a body does after something has gone wrong.
Remedy is the repair half of Justice. Where Sanction names a consequence for the one who breached, remedy names what is done for the one who was harmed and for the relationship between them: restitution, restoration, reconciliation, and the changing of whatever condition allowed the harm.
It is load-bearing because a body that cannot repair can only punish or forget, and both destroy it. Punishment without repair leaves the harmed person carrying the loss and the body carrying a grudge; forgetting teaches everyone that harm here is free. A visible remedy is also what makes forgiveness possible rather than merely required.
The canon's orientation is explicit: justice means restoring right relationship, not punishing wrongs — healing harms and harmonizing the whole. That places remedy, not sanction, at the centre of this Pillar's response to injury, with Conflict Transformation as its ordinary form and restitution, truth-telling, and reconciliation as its instruments. The same discipline that governs defects in the work applies to harms between people: seek the cause in the set-up rather than in the person (Zero Blame Environment), and close the matter only when the fix sits where the next occasion will meet it.
In play a player meets remedy at Mend a Tension — the small, early repair — and, rarely, at a Council when something could not be mended at the tables closest to it.
