The Fall
Movement V of the Sacred Arc: from the illusion of separation, the first selfish thought — and from it the long night of extraction and Kontrolle.
The sequence matters more than the drama. First The Veil of Finitude and Forgetting: each of the All passed through it so that it could experience itself as one of the Ones, and forgot Who it was. Then separation was felt as real. From the feeling of separation came the first thought that put one self above another; from that thought and the taste of blood came harm in service of self; and from harm organised across ages came Kontrolle — extraction, domination, and the long night.
So the Fall is not a crime with a single author and it is not a punishment handed down. It is a misreading that became a habit, and a habit that became an architecture. That reading is load-bearing, and everything downstream depends on it. If separation is an illusion rather than a fact, then Liberation and Exodus is possible and The Great ReMembering is a recovery rather than an invention. If the Fall were ontological — if we truly were separate — there would be nothing to remember and no Body to return to.
It also sets the Way's posture toward those still inside the harm. Along the fringes, small outcast tribes and warlords became empires of force; those who wandered farthest built prisons of story rather than iron, because a captive asleep inside the keeper's story guards their own cave. Recognising this keeps The Sacred War from becoming the thing it opposes: the adversary is the pattern, not the person wearing it, and Evil is named precisely so that it can be met without hatred.
In the Game the Fall is met personally long before it is met cosmically. A player's own small falls — the self-serving move, the withheld word, the quiet extraction from a commons — run the same sequence: forgetting, separation, harm. The weekly table's honesty about the gap is the working antidote at a human scale, and it is the same motion as the Arc's turn.
