The Joseph Plan

Storing against the lean years: a fractal network of storehouses and supply commons, built at every scale before it is needed.

The image is old and exact. Joseph read the seven lean years coming and filled the storehouses while there was still time; the plan named after him asks a body to provision now rather than to improvise later (The Wilderness, The Meta Crisis). What it builds is not a bunker but a Commons: storage, supply, and provisioning held together, at each scale, by the bodies it serves.

It nests like everything else. A household's own store; small caches held by a few trusted neighbours so that no single loss empties a locality; a community hub at the ten-thousand scale with food, healing, repair, and the costly tools no one family could keep; city and ecoregional hubs carrying what a community cannot; bioregional and georegional hubs holding manufacture, knowledge, and the capacities that only exist at continental scale (The Hub, Levels Of Scale, Fractal Commonsing).

Its moral spine is the refusal of hoarding, said at every rung: no family, community, city, or region survives alone, and a body that hoards accelerates the very collapse it fears. Each locality becomes a centre of distribution and production rather than of accumulation, and what is stored is governed by the people it serves rather than by any authority above them (Mutual Aid, Reciprocity, Sovereignty At Every Scale, The Parasite).

Read its urgency as the author's own — a blog page in the canon's voice of warning, unreviewed and unfolded — and the practice as sound regardless of timeline: a locality that can feed, heal, and repair itself is a locality that can also host, give, and build (Islands of Coherence, Anti-Fragility).
