The Mediolocality

About a hundred thousand sovereigns — a federation of roughly ten Communities; the medium town or small city.

At this size a body is made of bodies that are themselves made of bodies, and no one at the top has met most of it. What holds it is not acquaintance but the same card, the same week, the same turnings, and the same words on line one — the standards that let a page from a valley you have never heard of be read at your table (Minimum standards of interoperability, The Season Sheet).

The Mediolocality is the first rung the canon also calls a Local Hub: the scale at which shared services, infrastructure, and support appear that no single Community could carry — a clinic, a workshop, a store of grain, a training ground (Shared Services, Infrastructure, and Support, The Hub). Those are provided, never imposed; decisions stay at the smallest scale that can make them well, and this scale offers direction only where its reach genuinely serves the whole (Subsidiarity, Guidance).

Each rung is simultaneously a Domain, a body of the Communities within it, and a part of its Ecoregion above. The Mediolocality is simply that pattern at a hundred thousand: roughly ten Communities, each anchored by The 300 of its own place, federating by Consent (Levels Of Scale, Holofractal Omnifederation).
