Meta Opportunity
The other face of the Meta Crisis: the same convergence, read as the widest opening for co-creation that has existed in recorded history.
The systems that hold an old order in place are also what prevent a new one from being tried. When they loosen simultaneously, the cost of attempting something genuinely different falls — for a while. That window is the Meta Opportunity: not a silver lining offered for comfort, but a structural fact about transitions. A civilisation's most plastic moment is the one in which its inherited answers visibly stop working.
The concept is load-bearing because it fixes the posture of the whole enterprise. Without it, The Meta Crisis produces either despair or a defensive crouch, both of which build nothing. With it, the same facts read as an assignment: hospice the old rather than fight it, build the new alongside so that everyone has somewhere to go, and demonstrate before advocating. It is also what makes the invitation honest — nobody is being asked to hold back the tide, only to help make sure there is something habitable on the other side of it.
The opportunity is time-bound, and the corpus says so plainly rather than pretending otherwise. Windows close. What the hour asks is not everyone at once but The First Three Percent — the already-awakening, finding one another and organising before the heaviest weather. Three in a hundred is enough to turn a people; in a community of ten thousand that is The 300. Held as a reading of the moment, dated, and open to revision as the moment moves.
In the Game the Meta Opportunity is what makes a small Quest non-trivial. Work that would have been absorbed without trace in a settled era propagates in a plastic one: a Cell that demonstrates a working alternative in a place where the old arrangement has just failed is not performing a gesture, it is offering a road. In the System it is why Islands of Coherence matter — the new forms in islands while the old collapses, and the islands network.
