The five doors

Ask for guidance · offer a submittal · log an issue · record a decision · learn from the gap — the fixed set of moves anyone may make against the record of the whole.

A body that keeps a shared record has to answer a question most organisations answer badly: what may an ordinary person do to it? The usual answers are "raise it with your manager" and "put it in the suggestion box" — which are not moves, because neither has a defined outcome. The five doors are the whole list, and each one is a real door with something on the other side.

Ask for guidance. Anyone may ask the whole — a Request For Guidance — and receive an answer that is recorded, so the next person who asks finds it already there (Guide Cells · Guidance).

Offer a submittal. What hangs on the wall is changed by proposal, never by silent edit. Anyone may propose; the change is visible, dated, and attributable (Consent-Based Decision-Making · Change log).

Log an issue. Anything that blocks the work is written where it can be seen and solved rather than absorbed (Issue · The Total Nested Holarchy of Issues · Sighting).

Record a decision. What was decided, and why, so that nothing is re-litigated by accident and a newcomer can find the reasoning rather than only the rule (Decision Records · The Decision).

Learn from the gap. The distance between what was said and what was done is examined, not hidden; every defect is a gift, and the improving itself is improved (The gap · Every Defect Is A Gift · Retrospective · Look-back).

Naming them as a set — five, fixed, open to anyone — is what makes them load-bearing. It means no ordinary member ever has to wonder whether they are allowed; it means every irregular path into the record is visible as irregular; and it means the same five exist at every scale, so that a Cell's small room and the room of the whole have the same doors in the same places (The Big Room · Holarchy).
