Agreement
A conscious, explicit commitment entered freely by sovereigns in alignment with Logos — the unit from which a Field of Agreements is built.
An agreement is one promise, named out loud, between people who could have declined. Its three marks are in the definition: conscious (nobody drifted into it), explicit (it can be quoted), and freely entered (it can be refused, and later renegotiated or released).
It is load-bearing because it is the smallest governing object in the whole Pillar. Bodies are not governed by rulers here; they are governed by what they have agreed. That means the quality of a body's life is, quite literally, the quality of its agreements — how honestly they were made, how plainly they are written, how often they are reviewed. Unspoken expectations do the same work as agreements but cannot be examined, and every resentment in a young Cell is an unspoken expectation doing its job.
The canon encourages making implicit agreements explicit precisely so they can be evaluated, consciously consented to, and continuously improved. An agreement carries a review date; consent is not forever. Making one is an act of Sovereignty, not a surrender of it — which is why the same word covers the vow a person makes with themselves and the terms two bodies set when they federate.
In play, a Cell's first agreement is usually spoken before anything is written: how we will treat each other. The Commitment a player makes at the weekly The Turn is an agreement with a due date. What a room states at its door — Terms — is an agreement offered to whoever chooses to enter.
