What a body does when it meets the old world and needs a skin the old world recognizes.

Structure is a trellis, not a cage: the frame that lets a living vine climb. The rule at every tier is one question — does this structure serve our purpose? If yes, keep it; if no, change it; if unsure, start simpler, because structure is easy to add and hard to remove (One Purpose Above All, Agency, not ownership).

The canon lays out a ladder and insists the bottom rung is a real place to live. Tier 0 is no formal structure at all — sovereign people, a Field of Agreements, and trust — and most of the transformational work happens there, in kitchens and living rooms, with many bodies thriving at it indefinitely. Above it: a written voluntary association; an ecclesiastical or membership association; fiscal sponsorship or a donor-advised fund when resources must be received but an entity is not wanted; then cooperatives, purpose trusts, community land trusts and their kin when land or an enterprise is being stewarded; then federated stewardship, where several bodies share infrastructure and governance while each keeps its own life (Private Ecclesiastical Voluntary Membership Association, Federation).

When a full legal person is called for, its shape is named even where the vehicle is not: a fractal sovereign legal person with agency independent of its members; multi-stakeholder constituencies; six-capital accounting; integrative decision-making; asset and purpose locks; reciprocal federation; and a duty to contribute what it learns to the commons. That is the FSx pattern, grown from the FairShares Commons lineage (The asset lock, Constitutional Protection Of Purpose, Knowledge as commons, Capital Subordinate To Purpose).

The one thing no tier may quietly undo: the body cannot be owned, bought, or cashed out, and no structure may accumulate power or wealth for its own sake (Structural Immunity, Extraction Of Wealth).
