Agency, not ownership

A body has a life and purpose of its own that none of its members owns.

The founding question is asked plainly before a body is constituted: does this have its own agency — a life and purpose beyond any one of us, that none of us owns? If the honest answer is no, what exists is somebody's project with helpers, and it will end when they tire of it. If yes, the body can hold resources, make agreements, outlive its founders, and be left by any member without being taken apart (Organizations The LIØNSBERG Way).

Ownership is the thing being refused, not authority. A body with agency still governs itself, still decides, still holds people accountable — but no share of it can be bought, sold, or cashed out, and no member's departure strips it. Capital that helped is honoured and repaid with a fair, capped return, and then it stops; it never converts into control (Capital Subordinate To Purpose, The asset lock, Constitutional Protection Of Purpose). What binds the parts is agreement, not ownership (Field of Agreements, Covenant).

The consequence runs all the way up. Because no body is owned, federation can be genuine: complete wholes join without any of them absorbing another, and a member Cell keeps its own life inside the larger one (Holofractal Omnifederation, Sovereignty At Every Scale). And because no body is owned, the anti-pattern of extraction has nothing to grip — there is no share to accumulate, no exit to engineer, no asset to enclose (Extraction Of Wealth, Structural Immunity).
