Our Core Ways

The five to ten processes that actually carry a body, written down in a page each — so the work is teachable, repeatable, improvable, and shareable.

A body that keeps its know-how only in people's heads loses it the day someone leaves, and quietly does the same thing ten different ways in ten different corners. Core Ways are the cure, and the discipline is in the smallness of the list: do not document everything. Name the handful that, done well and done the same way every time, hold the body together — how we welcome a newcomer, how we run a gathering, how we choose and close a Quest, how value moves, how we decide and how we mend a tension, how we seat and thank those who speak for the living world and the unborn.

Write each one to the vital few steps only: why it matters in a line, three or four steps, and who holds it. Longer than a single page and it is over-documented; cut back to the bones a newcomer would actually need.

Then two commitments that look opposite and are not.

Followed by all. Once the body has agreed a Way, everyone does it that way — not to crush invention, but so the body is coherent, a newcomer can learn fast, and improvements compound instead of scattering. Whoever sees a better way does not quietly fork it in their own corner; they raise it as an Issue, the body discerns, and the written Way is updated for all. Coherence by Consent, not by command.

Continuously improved. Every Core Way is provisional — good enough for now, never sacred. Revisit as the body grows; when a better way is found, change the writing, and share it up to the Commons so other bodies inherit the hard-won wisdom rather than paying for it again. A solution found once, anywhere, should bless everyone.

To tend Core Ways is to live the whole system in miniature: that Everything Is A Process, that a body holds its wisdom in common, that we improve forever rather than arrive, and that what one body learns, all may receive.
