What the field is trying to become — sensed rather than decided, and named only in approximations, each prefaced with "something like".

The canon will not define it, and the refusal is the teaching. Every statement of it arrives hedged — it is something like — because what is being pointed at has not happened yet and cannot be specified in advance without being replaced by someone's plan for it (The Ineffable · We Do Not Know · Essences, Renderings, And Ineffable Referents).

Four approximations are offered, and they say the same thing four ways. It is something like a higher order functional unity between ØNE and All (Higher Order Functional Unity). Each image insists on the same structure: nothing is dissolved into anything. The tapestry keeps its colours; the symphony keeps its instruments; the body keeps its organs. The word longing is doing real work too.
