The 7 Year Window of Crisis and Opportunity

The second of the named strategic windows — 2024 to 2030 — in which the crisis reveals its dimensions and the opportunity to forge what follows is actually present.

The claim is specific: that between 2024 and 2030 the meta crisis shows its various faces and, in the same years, the opportunity to build the alternative is open — and that if the opportunity is not taken within this window, it is not obvious that it remains open in future decades or generations. Crisis and opportunity are named as one window because they are one event; what makes the alternative buildable is precisely what makes the existing arrangement unstable.

It is load-bearing because it is the reason for the pace. Everything urgent in the plan descends from this window: the invitation of every person who desires it by 2030, the three percent called out by the trust of their own people, the demonstration before the advocacy. Remove the window and the same work remains good and stops being urgent; keep it and the ordering of moves changes.

In the Game, the window is the Moment as a player meets it — one world dying, another being born, and a table to sit at while both are true. It is why the ask is small and immediate: within a week, two or three people; this season, one real thing. A plan that depends on everyone eventually agreeing does not fit inside seven years; a plan that propagates hand to hand might.

In the System, the window sits inside the ten-year strategy as its first phase, is followed by the three-year lag while the last cohort is formed, and is coupled to a twenty-year contingency because what is being attempted is unprecedented. It was preceded by the seven years of preparation that began in 2017 in anticipation of it.

The honest status: this is a dated claim about the future, offered as a reading and testable by events. It should be held as such, and revised out loud if the reading proves wrong.
