New Era
The name for what begins on the other side of the crossing — not a date but a condition, inaugurated when a people is actually self-governing.
An era is named by what is true in it rather than by when it starts. The New Era is the period in which the ordinary condition of life is the one the Goal describes: communities self-sustaining and self-governing, resources shared and used regeneratively, people free to pursue their own genius, the living world recovering, and a sense of connection that crosses borders and traditions. It is inaugurated when everyone who desires it is prepared and participating — after the invitation, after the lag, after the formation.
It is load-bearing because it names the destination of the strategy in a way that can be checked. The ten-year plan ends in something; that something is stated here, and it is a description of a condition rather than an achievement of a milestone. That keeps the plan honest: the era has not begun because a date passed, and it has begun when the description is true, wherever it is true.
In the Game, the era is not waited for. Heaven is here and now, a little more each week; the winning is not at the end, and every kept word and every fed neighbour is already a move inside it. A Cell that is self-governing, resourcing its own commons, and planting the next Cell is living in the New Era regardless of what the rest of the world is doing — which is exactly what an island of coherence is.
In the System, it is the third phase of the grand strategy, following the window and the lag; and what follows it is not an ending. Twenty years to regenerate the Earth, and after that a Story that continues into worlds and ages no one presently alive will see.
Its risk is the one every named future carries: a description written in the past tense, as though it had already happened, is easy to mistake for a promise. Held as intention, it orients; held as prophecy, it excuses.
