Carrier
The one who brought you the Flame, and the Cell they came from. It never changes.
Your Carrier is a fact about your origin, the way a birthplace is a fact. It is written once on The Circle Sheet and repeated on line 2 of every The Season Sheet your Cell ever sends. You may move to another home, leave and return, or watch your Carrier leave the Game altogether: the line stands, because it is a record of what happened and not a claim on you.
It is load-bearing because it is the body's entire genealogy, and the genealogy is the only structure holding ten thousand tables together. No center keeps a membership list. What exists instead is a chain: each Cell knows who carried it and each member knows who carried them, and from that the whole tree can be walked in either direction. It is also the difference between the Game and a franchise — a Carrier gains no authority over the Cell they lit, only a relationship with it.
How it is played. When you pass the Flame, say plainly that you are their Carrier and that your Cell is their first Home Cell until they find another. Sit with them for their first The Turn if they ask. Expect nothing upward: no tithe, no obedience, no branch. When the new Cell forms, name it on line 7 of your sheet, and let it name you on line 2 of its own. If a member joins an existing Cell rather than forming one, the member who brought them is written beside their name in the carried by column, and that too never changes.
