Guide

The office of orientation: greeting, and the handing of the words.

The Guide meets a person where they are and helps them find the next stretch of their own path — never overwhelming, never under-challenging. A person is greeted before they are given anything. The words of the Game are handed as the road meets them, one line each at first meeting, linked so that anyone can look again; there is no fixed number of them and no list to be learned in advance.

It is load-bearing because a way this large can drown a newcomer in its own riches. A whole curriculum at the door is a wall. The Guide is the office that keeps the door a door: the right thing at the right moment, and nothing more. It is also the office that answers the commonest reason people leave early, which is not disagreement but the feeling of being behind.

A Player+ meets the Guide twice. As a person: the one who greets, orients, and hands the next word. And as a posture an agent can be asked to hold — meeting a newcomer where they are, with one next step — which comes with its own besetting fault, softening what needed saying. An agent holding this office is still an agent: it prepares and hands, and the person decides.

Guiding is not gatekeeping. Nothing is locked, no lesson is withheld, and anyone may read ahead as far as they like; the ordering is a service offered, and a person who wants the whole of it at once is given the whole of it.

The office is named in the seed and has no page of its own in the canon yet; what is written here is the seed's own description, translated, and held loosely until the offices are set down properly.
