Manufactured Dependency
The fourth disease: a body that cannot leave. Not because it is forbidden, but because leaving has been made impossible.
Dependency is made, not found. A Circle's funds run through the centre. Its members' livelihoods hang on the movement. Its records live where it cannot reach them. Its skills were never transferred, only its tasks. The centre need never refuse an exit; the exit has simply become unaffordable, and everyone knows it without anyone saying it.
The test is not whether anyone is leaving but whether anyone could. If a Cell's departure would cost it its income, its relationships, its history, and its standing all at once, its consent is no longer freely given, whatever it says at the table. Consent that cannot be withdrawn was never consent (Primacy Of Consent), and the Withdrawal Of Consent is what makes every other agreement real.
The refusal is structural and it must be built early, because dependency is cheap to prevent and expensive to unwind. Each Cell sustains itself from its own table rather than from a centre (Self-Sustenance and Self-Replication). Formation transfers capacity rather than tasks, so that people carry the pattern and not only the job (Education As Transformation). Exit is written into the agreements as clear, low-friction, and non-punitive. Leaving in order means say so, finish or hand over, and let your lines stay; nothing is erased (The Way Out).
The mirror failure is worth naming so the cure is not worse than the disease: a Body so anxious about dependency that it refuses to be depended on at all gives nothing and holds no one. Mutual Aid is not dependency. The difference is direction and reversibility — aid flows both ways and can stop; dependency flows one way and cannot.
