The Cohering Spirit

What holds a body together when nothing is enforcing it: people turning toward the same real thing find themselves turned toward each other.

A movement without a centre is supposed to fly apart. This is the answer to why this one is not expected to. Coherence here is not produced by agreement, doctrine, or command; it is a consequence of orientation. When two people each turn honestly toward the same reality, they end up facing one another — not because either aimed at the other, but because of where both are looking (Coherence, Coherence Without Dogma, Resonance).

That is why there can be no central authority without the thing falling apart: the centripetal force is not an office. What does the holding is the Spirit, wisdom, intention and values of ØNE — the field in which all are held and which each is approaching (Spirit, Values, Intention, Alignment).

The two goods usually traded against each other are both kept by this. A person's freedom to walk their own path stays intact, because nobody is being aligned by anybody. And the body forms anyway, because alignment is a by-product of a shared direction rather than a requirement laid on anyone (Sovereignty, ØNE Body, Subsidiarity).

The failure mode it implies is specific and worth watching for. Coherence that has to be produced — by rule, by pressure, by a person everyone is really orienting toward instead — is the sign that the orientation has quietly moved from the reality to something nearer and easier (Institutional Idolatry, The Golden Calf, A role held forever quietly becomes a throne). The corrective is not tighter agreement. It is each person returning to the thing itself.
