Since Absolute Truth is beyond any person's or community's grasp, truth is approached rather than held. Navigating toward it is a continuous process of learning, questioning, growing, and taking on new perspectives; it requires openness to views that are not yours, willingness to challenge your own Current Best Understanding, and a commitment to be changed by better evidence.

The aim is not to arrive at a fixed and final account of Reality. It is to deepen conformity to what is actually so, to align better with its wisdom and goodness, and to contribute to a more harmonious, just, and rightly related world. The navigator's posture is therefore permanent apprenticeship — which is also why no one person and no one community can claim a complete and final understanding, and why anyone claiming one has, by that claim, stopped navigating.

It is load-bearing because it converts an unreachable standard into a workable method. A body that must possess truth before acting cannot act; a body that treats its own account as final cannot learn. Navigation gives both problems the same answer: say what you presently hold, name it as current best, act on it, and let the result correct you. Triangulation — several honest readings from several positions — is how a shared bearing is taken when no single reading is trustworthy.
