The Seven Steps of Transformation

A structured route from seeing to changing, usable at any scale — a person, a group, a community, a whole system.

1 · Story. Begin with the story, because nothing is assessed or planned outside one. Where are we, how did we get here, and what is this a chapter of (Story · Our Story · Narrative Lens)?

2 · Vision and Design. Say what the good version looks like, and design toward it, before examining what currently is — so that the present does not silently set the ceiling (Vision · Design · Design To The Goal · Worthy Goal).

3 · Context and Analysis. Now look hard at the actual situation: the conditions, the constraints, the forces, what is really in the way (Root Causes · Constraint · Sensemaking · The gap).

4 · Engagement. Bring in the people whose transformation it is. Placed before strategy on purpose — a plan made for people rather than with them will be correct and will not move (Dialogos · The Invitation · Requests and offers · Consent).

5 · Strategy and Planning. Choose the route and sequence the work: what first, what depends on what, what is deliberately not being done (Prioritizing · Critical Path · Pull planning · The plan of the whole).

6 · Action. Do it. Small enough to start this week, in the open, with commitments that can be kept or honestly broken (Do the Work · Commitment · Learning By Doing · Prototype).

7 · Measurement and Continuous Improvement. See what actually happened against what was intended, and feed it back — which returns the whole thing to step one with a changed story (Monitoring, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement · Retrospective · Continuous Improvement · The Record).

The order carries the teaching. Story before vision, vision before analysis, engagement before strategy, and measurement folding back into story — and it is a spiral rather than a line, run again each season at a higher turn (Attend, Plan, Act, Learn, Improve Cycle · The Turn · Season · OmniSpection).
