Form a Cell
Move one: three to thirteen people who choose to walk together, by name, and best at four to seven.
Forming a Cell is the move by which the irreducible unit comes into being. Three to thirteen is not a preference; below three it is a friendship, which is good but not yet a Cell, and at thirteen the body divides into two the way a cell does, and both go on. The move has four parts: gather the people by name, give the body a name, agree out loud how you will treat one another, and name the two hosts for the season.
It is load-bearing because every other move needs a body to be played in. Choose a Quest needs a table; Commitment needs someone who depends on it; The Turn needs a room. A person alone can walk the Path, and The Solo Sovereign's Grace says so plainly, but the Game is played by a Cell — a fully functioning part of the whole, not a fragment of one.
How it is played. Gather the ready rather than the many: the people you would want beside you in a hard season, at the pace of trust. Say the agreement aloud at the first gathering, because what is said in front of witnesses is what holds. Write The Circle Sheet — name, place, members, who carried each in, your home, your door. Fix the day and hour of the Turn and keep it. Two hosts hold the table each season and the hosting passes around; nobody hosts more than two seasons running. Then, within the first gathering, name who each of you will carry the Flame to, so that Pass The Flame is not an afterthought of the last week.
