Governance

The sacred art and science of stewarding power, authority, and right order in service to ØNE and All — how a body steers itself from where it is toward The Goal.

Govern descends from the Latin for to steer. That etymology is the whole teaching: governance is not rule, ownership, or management of people; it is navigation of a vessel by those aboard it. Having fixed an aim, the question is how a body gets from where it is to where it is going, together, without anyone becoming cargo.

It is load-bearing because a group that has not made its governance conscious still has governance — inherited, invisible, and usually somebody's default. The absence of explicit governance is not freedom; it is capture waiting to happen. Every body that ever fell to Centralization Of Power or Ideological Capture had a governance, and it was not the one its members would have chosen had they been asked to write it down.

In the Game the governance of a Cell is small and entirely legible: a Field of Agreements freely made, decisions taken by Consent as close to the work as possible, two hosts who rotate, a record of what was decided and why. It scales without changing shape — the same DNA at The Village, Community, Bioregion, The Planet — because it is holofractal rather than hierarchical. Service flows downward and authority flows upward is its axis; Subsidiarity is its placement rule; Transparency and Accountability are its floor.

Sacred Governance is not centralized, imposed, or mechanized. It has neither top nor bottom, because every being is part of larger wholes and composed of smaller ones. Its purpose is not to manage a society but to cohere one.
